NEPAL
Nepal is a small country nestled in the Himalayan mountain range. It borders Tibet to the north, India to the south, China to the east, and Pakistan to the west. It covers an area of 147,180 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 28 million people.
In terms of GDP ranking, Nepal stands at 166 out of 196 countries. According to the United Nations’ Human Development Index, it ranks 110 out of 190, indicating the low quality of life experienced by the Nepalese people.
Seduwa - Makalu Valley
Seduwa is a village in the Makalu Valley with a population of about 20,000 people. 90% of its residents are illiterate and primarily engaged in agriculture.
It is situated at the base of Makalu, a mountain that stands at over 8,000 meters in height, in the Sankhuwasabha District of Province 1. It shares borders with the Autonomous Region of Tibet to the north, India to the east, and Province 2 to the south. Its area spans 51,945 square kilometers.
The provincial capital is Num, which is a day’s walk away from Seduwa. There is no other form of transportation.
The nearest airport is in Tumlingtar, approximately 4 to 5 hours away depending on the condition of the road between Num and Tumlingtar. These travel times can double or even triple during the monsoon season.
